define: I was asked to create an illustration of Alice falling down the rabbit hole for a book.
research: I wanted to incorporate the small details of Alice in wonderland; flowers, playing cards, and tea cups. I wanted to go with a faded gouache look for the texture. the intended audience was going to be children/teenagers so I wanted bright colors to attract and small texture borders to make it pop.
process: I began with the background of the illustration, adding in Alice with her dress to make it look like she was falling. having the items around her looking like they are floating/falling to bring in the whole look of the down the rabbit hole.
